SEN Association – Support Education Network (SEN Association) is a Romanian legal persons of private law, autonomous structurally, functionally and economically, a non-governmental, apolitical, non-ethnic, non-religious, non-profit organizations, acting in the public benefit, established by Court Order 178 / A / 2011 from 27 September 2011 by a group of teachers of a special school: School Center for Inclusive Education No.1 Oradea (SCIE No.1 Oradea), as a result of Multilateral School partnership „Learning by doing, living by working”. Currently the association has 34 members, teachers from special education institutions from Bihor County and CJRAE Bihor. The association has no permanent staff members, working most of the time on a voluntary basis.Occasionally, people outside the association: pupils, students from the faculties with specialized studies in our domain, other professionals from different fields, but interested by the needs of people with disabilities, are involved as volunteers or as service providers in the activities undertaken by the association.
The mission of SEN Association is collaborating with institutions in the country and abroad to promote the European dimension in the educational process, by increasing the level of professionalism in education in general and the involvement in rehabilitation and integration of children, young and adults with special educational needs due of some disabilities, chronic illness, socio-affective deficiencies or for those who come from disadvantaged backgrounds, in particular.
SEN Association addresses to the following categories (which can be beneficiaries and/or active members): didactic staff, especially those who work with children/youngsters with special educational needs (psychologists, psychopedagogists, school counselors, teachers, support teachers, educators, physiotherapists, foremen); medics; psychotherapists; social assistants; scientific reviewers; parents of children, youth or adults with special educational needs, professors and researchers; students from the faculties; people with special educational needs due to disability, chronic illness, or socio-affective deficiencies that come from disadvantaged backgrounds; others in the country and abroad, willing to accept and to support the aim, objectives and actions of the association.
The principles underlying the organization and functioning of SEN Association are: • Collaboration (teachers - teachers, teachers - parents, didactic staff - public and private institutions in the country and abroad: education institutions, policy makers, non-governmental organizations, economical agents, media, etc); • Quality of education (professional trainings, specialized publications); • Support (for beneficiaries, for their families, for the educational factors, for the institutions/organizations of their origin).
